Amazon Reviews:
This is a wonderful and charming festive story. It's set in a village with a manor house, which is a run down state and is inherited by a relation of the Lady of the manor house who has died. The new Lord of the Manor is a professional footballer and he employs a young woman from the village to help him find ways to save the manor house and the village estate. A brilliant read.
I loved this book, it was heartwarming and I was very curious to find out the ending. Books like this one get me in the holiday spirit! The romance isn’t too gooey and the characters are believable. (And I liked them).
This is an adorable book! Set in a small English village, where life is wonderful but hard, it is the story of how a big star "footballer" (soccer player) and a regular girl from the village find each other.
Jessy has live in this village all her life, leaving only to go to university to get a business degree. Luke Adams, footballer has inherited the village (yes, everything in it) from an aunt he never knew. The manor house and indeed, the village is in genteel disrepair- they don't even have central heat, just wood burning stoves and electric heaters. When Luke breaks his ankle during a game, he retreats to check out his inheritance, along with his famous, beautiful, influencer girlfriend, Morgana. Also in the party are his agent, and a TV producer Morgana is working with to produce a Christmas show from the Manor house.
Everything is not as it seems- both with the scenery for the show or in the lives if the people involved. Watching Luke and Jessy dance around their attraction, and discover what lies under the surface of everything makes for a great read!
